High Availability Controller for stateful workloads using DRBD storage provisioned by Piraeus.
Before installing the Piraeus HA Controller chart, ensure the following requirements are met:
DRBD kernel module: The DRBD kernel module must be loaded on all nodes where the controller will run.
# Check if DRBD module is loaded
lsmod | grep drbd
# Load DRBD module if not present
sudo modprobe drbd
# Make it persistent across reboots
echo "drbd" | sudo tee -a /etc/modules-load.d/drbd.conf
Piraeus/LINSTOR storage: Piraeus or LINSTOR must be deployed and operational in your cluster with DRBD resources configured and in use.
Kubernetes 1.19+: The chart requires Kubernetes version 1.19 or later.
All examples in this guide use the public chart and images. If you've mirrored the repository for your own use (for example, to your Docker Hub namespace), update your commands to reference the mirrored chart instead of the public one.

To optionally mirror a chart to your own third-party registry, you can follow the instructions in How to mirror an image for either the chart, the image, or both.
The same regctl tool that is used for mirroring container images can also be used for mirroring Helm charts, as Helm
charts are OCI artifacts.

The Docker Hardened Images that the chart uses require authentication. To allow your Kubernetes cluster to pull those images, you need to create a Kubernetes secret with your Docker Hub credentials or with the credentials for your own registry.
Follow the authentication instructions for DHI in Kubernetes.
For example:

To install the chart, use helm install. Make sure you use helm login to log in before running helm install.
Optionally, you can also use the --dry-run flag to test the installation without actually installing anything.

Replace <version> accordingly. If the chart is in your own registry or repository, replace dhi.io with your own
registry and namespace. Replace helm-pull-secret with the name of the image pull secret you created earlier.
NOTE: This Docker Hardened Helm chart comes configured with a non root security context. Depending on your setup this might prevent the Helm chart from working. Should you need it, you can relax the security environment as per the upstream defaults by replacing the security context with the following values:

The DaemonSet should be created and pods should be running on nodes with DRBD resources:

Check the controller logs to confirm it's monitoring DRBD resources:

You can also verify that the controller is watching your pods by checking for DRBD-backed volumes:
