= Mediaconvert

This project contains two simple Dockerfiles to create Docker images dedicated to video or photo manipulation.

== Images description & Usage === process-media

This image will :

• process photos and reset the Exif Orientation Tag by rotating if required, using exifautotran.
• Compress .AVI files to .mp4 using avconv

Usage:

$ docker run -v $PWD:/photos batmat/process-media

=== rotate-video

This image, as its name implies, lets you easily rotate a video.

Usage (r=right, l=left):

$ docker run --rm -it -v $PWD:/photos batmat/rotate-video the-video.mp4 r

== Why this repository? Are you crazy? It's far simpler to installer avconv & so on locally!

Well, this was the config I previously had. BUT, I've migrated my old script to Docker for at least two reasons:

. Previously on Ubuntu, I've been bitten in the past by some upgrade where my script would simply not work anymore. Or worse, doing a low-quality conversion after an upgrade without me necessarily noticing . Having recently gone from Ubuntu to Fedora, my scripts just didn't work anymore: avconv is simply unavailable under Fedora. Hence, instead of trying to fight life again and convert them to ffmpeg or something, and as I had already started using Docker about a year ago, this sounded like an obvious choice to use it for that. . Bonus one: I love Docker :-).
