lucatnt/cloudytube repository overview

This simple web app allows you to submit the URL of a video (from any of the websites supported by youtube-dl): the video will be downloaded, its audio will be extracted, converted to mp3 and uploaded to your own Overcast® player. This requires an Overcast® Premium membership.

The uploading functionality of this tool is made possible through the great cloudy-uploader by Andrew Morozko.

Let me just make one thing clear: design was not a priority when building this tool, it was mostly for my own use (and it shows).

Demo installation

You can use my demo install at cloudytube.lucatnt.com.

How to use this thing

You can either run this with Python (install the dependencies first with pip3 install -r app/requirements.txt)

python3 main.py

Or you can use the lucatnt/cloudytube Docker image

docker run -p 5000:8080 lucatnt/cloudytube

Either way you will end up with a webserver running on port 5000.

Optional settings

There are four optional settings that can be supplied as environment variables.

VariableDefault valueRequiredDescription
OVERCAST_USERNAMENoOvercast default username
OVERCAST_PASSWORDNoOvercast default password
ENV_CREDENTIALS_DEFAULTfalseNoIf set to true, the checkbox that selects the environment-supplied credentials to be used is checked by default
DEFAULT_VIDEO_URLNoThe default video URL. Useful for testing.
