smeagolworms4/meteoagricole2mqtt repository overview

La Météo Agricole 2 MQTT

pipeline status

"Buy Me A Coffee" "Buy Me A Coffee"

Scrape lameteoagricole.net and publish one sensor per field to MQTT with Home Assistant auto-discovery. A companion weather entity can then be assembled via the built-in template integration — see the Weather entity section below.

Usage

Pull repository

docker pull smeagolworms4/meteoagricole2mqtt

Run container:

docker run -ti \
    -e MQTT_URI=mqtt://login:[email protected] \
    -e LOCATIONS=Saint-Etienne-42000,Paris-75001 \
    smeagolworms4/meteoagricole2mqtt

Environment variables

ENV MQTT_URI= #Required

Weather entity (template)

Home Assistant does not support the weather platform via MQTT discovery — only sensor, binary_sensor, switch, light, etc. So this addon publishes every field as an MQTT sensor and you assemble a weather entity in configuration.yaml using the built-in template integration. Three-step procedure:

1. Find the entity IDs your addon created

Once the addon is running, open Dev Tools → States and filter meteoagricole_ — you'll see entities like:

sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_condition (HA condition code: sunny / rainy / …)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_temperature (°C)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_humidity (%)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_pressure (hPa)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_wind_speed (km/h)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_wind_bearing (°)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_dew_point (°C)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_cloud_cover (%) ← matches MF card auto-detect
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_apparent_temperature (°C)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_uv ← matches MF card auto-detect
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_rain_chance (%) ← matches MF card auto-detect
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_freeze_chance (%) ← matches MF card auto-detect (derived)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_snow_chance (%) ← matches MF card auto-detect (derived)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_forecast_daily (state=count, attr `forecast`=HA-standard array, attr `forecast_full`=with agri extras)
sensor.meteoagricole_<slug>_forecast_hourly (state=count, attr `forecast`=HA-standard array, attr `forecast_full`=with agri extras)

<slug> is the town + zip lowercased with non-alphanum replaced by _, e.g. saint_etienne_42000, lyon_69001, aix_en_provence_13100.

2. Add this block to configuration.yaml

Replace saint_etienne_42000 by your actual slug. Important : the name: is chosen so the resulting entity_id weather.meteoagricole_<slug> shares its prefix with the MQTT sensors — this lets the meteofrance-weather-card auto-detect all companion entities without explicit mapping.

The template weather entity uses the modern HA schema (no _template suffix on the keys) — this is what HA 2024+ expects and is required for the forecast feeds to reach the weather card.

template:
  - weather:
      - name: "MétéoAgricole Saint-Etienne 42000"
        unique_id: meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_weather
        condition: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_condition') }}"
        temperature: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_temperature') | float(0) }}"
        temperature_unit: "°C"
        humidity: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_humidity') | float(0) }}"
        pressure: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_pressure') | float(0) }}"
        pressure_unit: "hPa"
        wind_speed: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_wind_speed') | float(0) }}"
        wind_speed_unit: "km/h"
        wind_bearing: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_wind_bearing') | float(0) }}"
        wind_gust_speed: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_wind_gust_speed') | float(0) }}"
        dew_point: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_dew_point') | float(0) }}"
        cloud_coverage: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_cloud_cover') | float(0) }}"
        apparent_temperature: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_apparent_temperature') | float(0) }}"
        uv_index: "{{ states('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_uv') | float(0) }}"
        forecast_daily: "{{ state_attr('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_forecast_daily', 'forecast') }}"
        forecast_hourly: "{{ state_attr('sensor.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000_forecast_hourly', 'forecast') }}"
3. Reload and use
  • Dev Tools → YAML → "Template Entities" (or restart HA) → entity weather.meteoagricole_<town> appears
  • Use it in any weather card (native Weather forecast, HACS custom:meteofrance-weather-card, etc.)
4. Configuring the HACS custom:meteofrance-weather-card

Because the template entity is named so its prefix matches the MQTT sensors, the card auto-detects every companion entity (cloud_cover, uv, rain_chance, freeze_chance, snow_chance) by itself — no explicit mapping needed:

type: custom:meteofrance-weather-card
entity: weather.meteoagricole_saint_etienne_42000
current: true
details: true
daily_forecast: true
hourly_forecast: true
number_of_daily_forecasts: 5
number_of_hourly_forecasts: 12

one_hour_forecast and alert_forecast need the native Météo-France integration's extras (minute-level rain, typed vigilance) that lameteoagricole does not expose — keep them off.
